Burning embers danced through the sky, disappearing eventually as the cloud of smoke rolled into the pale blue sky. The weight of death was overwhelmingly potent in the air. Blade dashed out from behind the barn, his heart pounding through his chest as he slipped around the hay bails. The water rippled under him as his footsteps pounded against the wood of the bridge and ground to a chilling halt. The entire field and woods had completely lost the life that was once there as a black plume rose into the air.

Onyx Reflection chapter two Blade’s mind fell back into consciousness as he slowly opened his eyes, quickly realizing he was no longer where he had fallen. He squinted as his eyes as they tried to desperately to adjust to the change in light. "Mom! He woke up" a girl shouted, though it seemed her voice muffled. He thought he had survived the entire ordeal, but there was no way he could be sure. His entire body ached as he glanced around the blurry room to the figure that had spoken, who was sitting on the edge of the bed in which he lay. "Good morning!"
